Kazuri Balloons Round Ceramic Bead Necklace, Midnight

This necklace is delicate and pretty, created from small flat kidney bean shapped ceramic beads.

Kazuri, meaning ‘small and beautiful’ in Swahili, aptly lends its name to the ceramic jewellery made by local women in Nairobi, Kenya.

Founded in 1975, Kazuri jewellery began as a small ceramic workshop that helped struggling single mothers make a living.

Today, the workshop has grown and employs 300 local women who shape and paint the beads by hand, making them into colourful necklaces and bracelets.

The result is unique, Fairly Traded jewellery that reflects the quirks and trademarks of the special women that make them.
